Don't miss out on visiting the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest and most species-rich reef in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Of course, the world-famous GREAT Barrier Reef attracts a lot of visitors. There are countless ways you can invent the reef, depending on your options and wallet. From small plane or helicopter overflights to glass bottom boats, snorkelling and scuba dives- there is something for everyone. Since I have a diving license, it was clear to me that I would dive into the underwater world. Besides a turtle, a ray, a Napoleon and lots of anemone fish, I also met a "white tip reef shark" and a large barracuda. The abundant colours of the fish and corals are really indescribable, although unfortunately the first effects of the coral extinction on some of the reefs I visited could not be denied.
INSIDER TIP: Outer Reef is the place to be! There is still pretty much untouched and due to the proximity to the open sea, it is also to be expected with much better visibility, since there is less sediment deposited in the water.
